Late Nights

Every night it seems, I have planned to update this site and I end up hurrying to bed and forgetting about the site. I seem to be stuck in a vicious cycle of going to bed too late and being extremely tired the next morning. I bike home from work, and there’s usually not a whole lot going on for me at the apartment. Between not getting enough sleep and the bike ride home, I am usually pretty tired, so I’ll take a nap. Since I never seem to remember to set an alarm clock, the nap will go over and I end up staying up late agian…to be tired the next morning. You get the picture.

I have 2 more days of work this week, and then I’ll be headed downstate for a week to hang out with friends and family. I am really looking forward to doing some fishing with my cousins, whom I haven’t seen in over a year. Bridgefest, the annual celebration to commemorate the bridge that connects Hancock and Houghton is also this weekend. It’s a shame I will be missing it due to travel, but it looks like we might have bad weather anyway. There is a big parade (runtime was over an hour last year, quite impressive for a town in the UP) and live music almost all weekend.

On to the subject of music, right now I have a huge craving to go to a concert. I’ve been listening to music all day, and just finished watching Pink Floyd: Delicate Sound of Thunder on LD. They put on a pretty awesome show. If Pink Floyd ever plays together again (as they did at Live 8 last year), I have really gotta try to get to the show.

Allergy season and other woes

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. My constant sniffing and itchy eyes indicate that allergy season has finally hit the copper country. I’ve had just a light irritation to my eyes for the last week or so, but monday is when things really kicked into gear. I grabbed some nasal decongestant I had on hand and headed off for work, sneezing all the way. In general, my allergies are much better up here in the UP (versus downstate); the season is shorter and the pollen in the area doesn’t tend to bother me as much. Hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon.

We got our first major rainfall up here in at least 2-3 weeks. Not just your standard afternoon shower, it rained hard from about 2 pm until ~6 pm. I guess we need it pretty bad, but it sure is a pain when your only method of transportation is bicycle. My boss was kind enough to give me and my bike (and my other boss, but that is another story) a lift home so I wouldn’t get especially drenched.

Come one, come all

Sorry in advance for the poor name of this blog. It’s the continuation of a naming convention I started almost 2 years ago, when I put up the Room 416 webpage. Now I live at 321 Quincy street, and Nutini’s is the name of the supper club downstairs from my room. Now that we got that out of the way, I am pretty well settled in to my apartment and I hope to be posting some pictures soon. My intentions are to update this site on a semi-regular basis with what’s been going on in my life.

For years my excuse for not blogging has been that my life is way too boring for people to want to read about. Don’t blame me if I turn out to be right.
